  2. Meet Your Teachers! • Betsy Van Jura • World History • Ms. Van Jura has traveled extensively throughout the United States and North America. She is most excited about getting to visit London, England, and hopefully getting to see Platform 9¾. • Stephanie Sefcik • 8th Grade English/History • Ms. Sefcik has traveled all over Western Europe, including studying in England and Scotland and finding long-lost relatives in Italy. She has also taught English in Thailand and spends her summers camping in Canada. She’s most excited about: Cashel, Ireland (and, of course, catching leprechauns)!

What is Passports Travel? • Educational Group Travel company • Passports “Courier” tour guide • Professional, university-trained guide who is familiar with (lived in) the countries we are visiting. • Knows where to go, who to talk to, and has a backup plan for every situation (rainy days, etc.) • Used by the other tours and groups at BGA • French trip led by Abby Kropp • Several other trips (Italian trip) in the past • A company with a real contact: Roberta Wiener (who responds within minutes to any email)

  6. What Do I Need that’s Extra? • Food: Lunches • Optional Tours • Souvenirs • That’s It! • If you want to do this tour on $15/day, you can. If you want to spend $200/day, you can. The amount you spend on “extras” is up to you!

Financial Security There are good reasons for arranging your overseas adventure with a nationally-known educational travel sponsor. • Mainly, you can be sure that the trip will occur, and pretty much in accordance with your expectations and the promises made to you by the company. (That doesn't always happen with a tiny new company strapped for cash, or with a local travel agent doing quality student travel arrangements for the first time.) • Your best bet is with an established company like passports. Here's why: • a track record involving tens of thousands of very happy campers. The best word is word of mouth. Ask people about passports. • a special bank depository account in which trip payments are held, until needed. This protection is offered as a matter of contractual agreement between the company and its travelers. • bondingof all providers of travel services. The buses all show up on time, at the correct hotel, or there are consequences.

Itinerary: Ireland • Days 1-2: Limerick, Adare, Killarney • See a beautiful, historic town next to the River Maigue, with thatched cottages • Then travel to Killarney, which lies in the shadow of the Carrauntoohill, the tallest point in Ireland • Day 3: Ring of Kerry Tour, Cork Walking Tour • A scenic route around the Iveragh Peninsula, which presents purple mountains, quaint villages, seascapes, bogs, and narrow passes overlooking the sea

Itinerary: Ireland (cont’d) • Day 4-5: Blarney, Cashel, Dublin • The Blarney Castle, which hosts the famous Blarney Stone, sure to give you the gift of gab • We’ll travel to County Galway to see Cashel, which houses St. Patrick’s rock, which is home to the most interesting monastic ruins in all of Ireland (and some pretty spectacular views) • By nightfall, we arrive in Dublin and have time to explore the city, which we continue on Day 5

Itinerary: Scotland • Day 6-7: Edinburgh, Optional Excursion to Loch Lomond & Trossachs • See Edinburgh Castle & Holyroodhouse Palace • Climb the nearby mountain trail that overlooks the whole city (optional—on your free time) • Head through the heathery mountains into the Scottish countryside to see Loch Lomond and take a lake cruise (opt.)

  12. Itinerary: England • Day 8: Cheviot Hills, York Walking Tour • Walking tour through the medieval city walls of York until you reach the York Castle • Use some free time to explore York, and even go on an optional guided Ghost Walk after dark—explore the legends and folklore!

  13. Itinerary: England • Day 9: Stratford • RSC Performance • Visit Shakespeare’s home town in Stratford-Upon-Avon, including seeing Anne Hathaway’s cottage • Enjoy a play by the Royal Shakespeare Company (the best!)

  14. Itinerary: England • Days 10-11: Oxford, London • See the splendor of Oxford before continuing on to London • Free time to explore London • Optional London Eye ride & River Thames cruise • Greenwich Sightseeing, Carvary Dinner (traditional English dinner)

  15. Departure • Day 12: Leave for Home!
