FreshmanLadies Lacrosse 2010 Play hard. Play smart. Play together.
First Practice • We start on Monday 3/1 in room 1545 • As soon as possible, bring me your emergency card and physical—you cannot practice unless I have these
Gear Up • Lax stick • Goggles • Dark mouth guard • Cleats and running shoes • Layers of clothes • Gloves • Water bottle
Practices • Stretching starts at 3:15—change, get to the field, get your gear, take a warm-up lap before 3:15 • We are outside unless there is heavy rain—check the lax board each day
Practices • Be prepared to run each day, on the practice field or on pavement • Let me know as soon as possible if you will miss practice • Practice will end at 5:30 • Our field is past the band field and beyond the baseball field
Games • Our games will likely be on Saturdays starting in late March or early April between 9 and 11 am • Let me know immediately if this is a problem
Playing Time • I can only play you if you have endurance enough to be on the field. Exhibit an athletic attitude concerning training and practice, and you will earn playing time
Playing Time • I can only play you if you can throw accurately and, more importantly, can catch. Have an athletic attitude in practice concerning your skills, and you will earn playing time.
Playing Time • Be willing to play any position. We win games only if we have a competent defense. Goalies play the whole game.
Preseason Training—Now! • Run and build your endurance. • Sprint for speed and agility. • Stretch • Play with your stick. Become confident with your motion. • Catch and throw. • Cradle.
Do these: • Read about ladies lacrosse. • Google it. YouTube it. • Learn about the premiere female college teams. • Check out the gear on the internet. • Join US Lacrosse and get the magazine.
Be proud! Ladies lacrosse has been in East coast high schools and colleges for a long time, but you are only the third freshman team at South High since the state of Missouri sanctioned it as a sport.
