  2. Project CARV A 2 year demonstration project aiming to reduce alcohol related violence in three areas: • Rotorua • Hastings/Napier • Queenstown

  3. Project CARV Aim: to further develop collaborative and effective approaches to Alcohol Related Violence reduction initiatives and services in the three selectedcommunities through coordination, liaison and research, leading to the implementation of evidenced based practice and actions plans.

  4. Project CARV Along with building on current alcohol-related violence reduction policy work and provide an excellent opportunity to share experiences of methods of managing the reduction of alcohol related violence

  5. Project CARV Involved active partnership between: • Territorial Authorities, • Police, • District Health Boards and • The Crime Prevention Unit on both a national and local level

  6. Project CARV The Crime Prevention Unit’s role • National coordination • Initial Local structure development • Funding • Quarterly interregional workshops • Information & advice • Electronic workspace – communication & information tool • Dissemination of information & findings

This is highlighted by the successful Select Committee representation on CYF Act changes for Liquor Infringement Notices and the significant survey work being conducted by the HBDHB. Project CARV • Strong focus on sustainability throughout project. • Number of actions already found ‘homes’ with key partner organisations. • Some actions ‘potentially continued’ dependant on funding received and adoption by other organisations. • Some already ‘owned’ by other organisations but supported by Project CARV.
