UL14/16 (High-E HadronFluence) Unshielded (as today) • Determine attenuation towards UL14/16 • For various ‘shielding’ scenarios • 2012/13 we’ll most probably not reach more than some 10% X X X X X X X X X X X X X X X X Gradient for comparison
UL56 (High-E HadronFluence) Transition from UJ57 into UL (towards Bypass) • Determine attenuation towards Bypass • Is a distance of ~34m ok(from the UL/UJ junction)? X X X X X X X X X Gradient used for estimate X X X X X X X X X X X X X
UL56 (High-E HadronFluence) At >30m we’re certainly ok
‘Conclusion’ • With the reduced shielding (-20cm) we have no ‘safety’ margin -> we just ‘touch’ the 107cm-2y-1 • To be kept in mind, upgrade possible at later stage(in the current shielding layout we’re dominated by the lateral ‘source’) • Chicane solutions for UJ-UL14/16 are ok (from a radiation level point of view) • We can live without a plug, certainly for 2013/14, perhaps forever (do we really need it?) • UL56 -> distance of 30m carries enough safety margin to place the racks -> monitoring for UJ/UL junction recommended
