Rating I give this book a 4 out of 4 because it was a great book and it kept my attention. It was very interesting, and since it was a true story it was even more interesting. It was hilarious and disturbing at the same time. This is definitely one of the most bizarre and disturbing books I have ever read. Over all, this book was very good and if you like funny memoirs, you would like this book.
Summary This book was about a boys child and teenage life. His name is Augusten Burroughs. He grew up with parents that talked to him like and adult, cussed around him, and let him do and say just about anything that he wanted. His mother and father didn’t get along very well, so they divorced. His mother went to counseling with her doctor for a while. When he was 12, Augustens mother gave him away to move in with the doctor and his crazy family. Their were no rules, and sometimes when the kids were bored they used an electroshock therapy machine for entertainment. The kids did anything that they wanted. Whether it was crashing the roof of the kitchen in to make a skylight, moving all of the furniture into the front yard, or simply just not going to school. The doctors wife ate dog food, and the doctor himself thought that his “toilet bowl readings” were signs from God. Read the book to find out more about Augustens crazy life.
