Research Problem • Repair an intra-articular fracture with the smoothest articulating surfaces possible • An intra-articular fracture is a break in the articulating surfaces of a joint • Use 3D visualisation as a tool in providing pre-operative planning for surgery • Data visualisation from CT scans are a non-invasive way of providing information • Initial work is in 2D Theory and Practice of Computer Graphics 2007

Progress so far • 3D visualisation of CT data • Amira • AVS/Express • Some edge detection and collision detection work • Vb.Net • 2D shape manipulation and matching • Java Theory and Practice of Computer Graphics 2007
Further Work • Apply manipulation to 3D images • User interface views? • Manipulation control? • Edge detection • Collision detection • Automatic segmentation • Can swelling and/or bleeding affect the images? Theory and Practice of Computer Graphics 2007
