Improved developing unit specifications • The distance between the drum and the developing sleeve has been reduced to improve developing • The distance between the blade and the sleeve has been optimized to improve reproduction of image density Developing sleeve • User Benefit • D-max has been increased to 1.4 or over, making changes in density less noticeable • B. Fusing roller adjustment (service parts) • The soft roller stabilizes high- and medium-density images more easily • The hard roller substantially improves uneven brightness and provides a glossy-like finish Developing sleeve Drum Narrowing this space strengthens the electric field to improve developing 0.55  0.4mm

  9. 1. Image Stability 2. Improved Continuous High-coverage Printing Users can choose from three Modes as below. 3 Selectable Modes None (default) Quality mode Normal (1/1) operation is resumed when the image density value is higher than 1.45 Performance mode Normal (1/1) operation is resumed when the image density value is higher than 1.40 • User Benefits • Users can choose speed or image quality as the top priority

  10. 1. Image Stability 3. Heat / Humidity Sensors With the bizhub PRO 920, conditions where only checked early in the morning and were not changed all day long. However, the bizhub PRO 950 checks the surrounding temperature and humidity every 20 minutes and adjusts accordingly. This real-time monitoring capability is especially important in winter when room temperature can rise dramatically when the heater is turned on. • User Benefit • Real-time response to changes in temperature and humidity prevents curling • The heat of the fusing roller is consistent, leading to more stable fusing. This, in turn, leads to more stable image density Heat / Humidity Sensor

  11. 1. Image Stability 4. Improved Developing Unit Architecture The bizhub PRO 950 features a superior developing unit to better prevent toner from spilling. Although the bizhub PRO 920 also prevented toner spillage on the PET sheet, it wasn’t effective when a certain amount was exceeded. However, the with the bizhub PRO 950, toner is collected on the lower level of the developing unit with the collection shaft and reinserted into the developing unit. A collection shaft on lower level of the developing unit has been added Spilled toner The collection shaft recycles spilled toner

  12. 1. Image Stability 5. Improved Reverse-side Transfer The standard-equipped assist PET allows improved reverse-side copying by improving the way paper fixes to the drum, enabling better handling for more accurate transfer. PETpressure width (US) 8.5x11, Max 266mm of 11x17 reduced size Photo conductor assist PET driver assist PET • User Benefits • Improved image quality on the outer edges of the back side assist PET drive motor • For small-sized paper other than the sizes listed above, the assist PET may be customized to standard paper sizes(same as bizhub PRO 1050e)

  13. 6. Improved Image Quality during Low Coverage Printing The RC-501 Recycle Cut Kit prevents developer degradation when printing documents with low coverage. 1. Image Stability Effectiveness of PRO 1050 RC-501 • User Benefits • During low coverage printing, degradation of developer is reduced • Toner scattering and spillage is reduced • During continuous high coverage printing, image density stabilization is improved, while toner scattering and spillage is reduced 31% reduction 21% reduction No. of CM visits Note: To maximize image quality, BT strongly recommends using the RC-501 for users who frequently print documents with coverage of 5% or less. Monthly avg. CM image Monthly avg. developer replacements

  14. 2.Improved Productivity 1. Faster All Around Performance In addition to the print speed being increased from 92ppm to 95ppm, the RIP speed has also increased, enabling faster processing of jobs from various applications (refer to the chart below). The change in RIP speed is due to an upgraded CPU. Print Speed in PPD • User Benefits • Faster printing speed, 92ppm  95ppm • Faster RIP speed across numerous applications File 1 Pages: 148 Avg. data size of pages: 64KB Standard document (with text / images / charts) File 2 Pages: 20 Avg. data size of pages: 435KB Document with much image data File 3 Pages: 32 Avg. data size of pages: 1.4MB Document with much special color data (PANTONE 541, etc.) (PPM)

  15. 3. Improved Image Quality 1. Screen Pattern Selection (PS Plug-in Driver Function) In addition to the standard Adobe screen from previous models, users can also select from three new screens (Photo, Text and Text/Photo) depending on the type of document they are printing, ensuring ideal image quality and high productivity for every run. • User Benefits • Selectable screen modes ensure ideal image quality for any document type

  16. 3. Improved Image Quality 2A. Use CIE Color (PS Plug-in Driver Function) By default, CMYK, RGB or other color data is sent to print as one set of data. However, when the “Use CIE Color” button is selected in the PS Plug-in Driver, color data is separated, providing finer, more precise gradations. This feature can be turned on and off by job. • User Benefits • Finer gradations for image data with many shadows, color/density changes, etc.

  17. 3. Improved Image Quality 2A. Use CIE Color (PS Plug-in Driver Function) Below are examples of the benefits of using CIE color. Output (B&W) Original image (CMYK, RGB, etc.) Use CIE Color = OFF There are muddled colors and the gradations in the shadow area don’t appear. Use CIE Color = ON colors are not muddled and gradations are smooth. However, speed is reduced by 10% - 20%.

  18. 3. Improved Image Quality 3A. Tone Curve Utility (PS Plug-in Driver Function) This drag-and-drop tone curve utility makes it easy to adjust density, contrast and brightness in images before printing. Users can also register up to 10 tone curves to be used with multiple jobs without having to input settings again. There are also 10 pre-set tone curve patterns for a total of 20 ready-to-use tone curve settings. Tone curves can be selected by job from the PS Plug-in Driver. One benefit of the tone curve utility is the ability to keep text at 100% density while lowering the overall density of other elements. A total of 10 test charts in PS or PDF format can be registered and previewed while making tone curve adjustments. • User Benefits • Density, contrast and brightness can be easily adjusted before printing images • 10 user-defined tone curve settings can be registered and reused • Text can be kept at 100% density, even when lowering the density of other elements

  19. 3. Improved Image Quality 3A. Tone Curve Utility (PS Plug-in Driver Function) Example of tone curve use: lower maximum density and contrast for a softer, European style. Printed using default tone curve Printed using new tone curve Maximum density: 90% Contrast: -5% Keep 100% density for text: ON Even when reducing the maximum density, text remains at 100% density without being effected.

  20. 4. Increased Media Compatibility 4. Paper Thickness A wider range of media compatibility (40 – 300g/m2) lets print shops deliver greater service to customers with diverse needs. • User Benefits • Greater minimum and maximum paper weights 50g/m2 100g/m2 150g/m2 200g/m2 250g/m2 300g/m2 40 – 300g/m2 50 – 200g/m2 52 – 216g/m2 64 – 200g/m2
