Build Systems of Systems in the Cloud: Tutorial Brand Niemann Director and Senior Data Scientist Semantic Community November 9, 2011
Some Examples • Semantic Community - US EPA and Federal CIO Council • 1105 Government Information Group – Wyatt Kash • SEMIC.EU – Francisco Garcia Moran • DoD CIO – Teri Takai • Army Systems of Systems Engineering – Terry Edwards • NIEM PMO – Donna Roy • FAA – NextGen – Steve Cooper • Intelligence Community – Gus Hunt • METI – Hiroyuki Hotta
System of Systems Architecture Dynamic Case Management (e.g. Be Informed) Data Science Library (e.g. Spotfire) Data Science Products (e.g. Spotfire) S Semantic Index of Linked Data (e.g. Excel)
Some Comments at the FAA SWIMDemonstrations and Prototypes TIM 8 • Joint Program Development Office: • There is a new Semantic Systems of Systems Architecture and Tools that can be used (see previous slide). • Open Geospatial Consortium Selected Demos: • Semantic Interoperability is more about rules than ontology now. • There are tools now that support building both desktop and mobile apps in the cloud. • Big data in memory in the cloud means you do not have to send a lot of big XML around. • Android-Based Registry/Repository Client: • The DoD CIO Mission Critical Information for Warfighters on Secure Commercial Mobile Devices is looking at (1) essential content provisioned and pushed to mobile devices (DoD-led) and (2) securing commercial mobile devices (NSA-led). The iPad uses the App Store as the Registry/Repository. • The Net Centric Demos Data Base needs to include URLs to public data that can be used by others to pilot (refers to all of the efforts above).

FAA Data Architecture • Authoritative Data Sources • 3. Demonstrations and Prototypes • November 9, 2011, TIM Meeting • 4. JPDO Community • Ontology Driven Implementation of Semantic Services for the Enterprise Environment (ODISSEE)
