  2. PDI 2008 – Seminal Event • Interactive DON plenary session • Used Automated Response Devices to elicit responses/discussion • Followed up with a DON FM-wide survey • Survey resulted in 4 key focus areas: • Training • Communication • Career Roadmap • Community Management

Training • PCC – more local options • CFO Academy • Civilian EMBA with Naval Postgraduate School • Web-based – access via ASN(FM&C) website • FM 101 • ADA Investigator • NWCF 101 • Fiscal Law • Budget Execution – watch for it; coming soon • Budget Formulation – estimated completion Oct 09 • Additional Ideas??

Communication • Survey • ASN (FM&C) web site reconfigured • What’s New section • updated regularly • Distribution list – any government employee that signs up • FM Community Outreach • Wide Area Comptroller Meetings • Regular emails to a number of distribution lists: Budget Submitting Office comptroller and ASN(FM&C) website lists

Career Roadmaps • Promulgated in January 2009 • Posted on ASN(FM&C) website • Roadmap for each of the 5 DON FM series • 501, 503, 505, 510, 511 • If series alignment not complete, need to do so quickly so employees have career roadmaps to follow • Roadmaps at Entry – Journey – Expert Levels • Technical, Leadership and Business Acumen Competencies • Education & Training • Experience • Certifications

  6. Community Management • Providing strategic direction to major commands • Limited central funding • Exceptions: • Trainees (FMTP) and Associates (FMAP) program • SN Fellowship • Provide guidance and support awards programs • ASN(FM&C) • ASMC • USD(C)

  7. Next steps • Two additional web-based training courses this FY • Constant follow-up on FMTP and FMAP • Continue to communicate with customers • USD(C) interest in FM workforce increasing
