BACKGROUND OF TITLE: • Reading are the important things for human being, read mean manipulate and understanding written word, while habit carry out something that often do. • The need of reading habit critically vital for student as they need knowledge and updated information to face the upcoming trend. • The study of reading habit among student is to acknowledge weather the modern reading nowadays would rupture the student rather than traditional method. • From our view, the mass distributions of Mass Medias lead the variety of reading materials from traditional book until the hot prospect e-library. • The study also concern that whether nowadays student in UMP take advantages at the new technology for reading purpose. Yet, the differences between man and women about reading preference still a case to study. • By related to the new technique of reading, we want to acknowledge whether it can influence the nowadays trend.

RESEARCH OBJECTIVE : The objectives of our study are: • To determine the sources of reading material • To discover the differences reading habit between the female and males students. RESEARCH QUESTION : The following are the questions that we have prepared for our research: • What are the sources of reading materials that student of Universiti Malaysia Pahang prefer? • What are the differences of reading habits between the gender?

CONCLUSION : • From our research, students prefer to using internet as their main component of reading source due to the wide uses of the internet in UMP itself. By using internet, student will find their resource and print out what material that they want to use or read and it was free and it look like it’s save up time and spacing. This trend also can reduce the cost of buying costly books in the bookstore. • Beside that it find out the kind of material that usually loved by student but different by the gender. We can see that the different desire in the reading preference. The guys usually love to read sport and technologies while the girls love to read novel and recipe. The reason is due to their interest and behaviour.

LIMITATION OF THE STUDY : • Our limitation of research is could not verify between reading habit and the natural reading. • Normally student will read more books during assignment and working on project which is something we don’t want to expect from the responded. • Difficulties in finding suitable article and journal which related to our research.

SUGGESTION FOR FURTHER STUDY : • Should compare reading habit in UMP with another college. • UMP need to organize a reading carnival in UMP. From this Carnival, we can verify that weather student take care about reading. • The topics should be more common, so we can find the related literature review based on our research.
