  2. What is it? • Education about human sexual anatomy, sexual reproduction, sexual intercourse, reproductive health, emotional relations, reproductive rights and responsibilities, contraception, and other aspects of human sexual behavior.

  3. Not only talking about sex What its really all about • Self-esteem or Body image • Marriage, parenthood, and families • Reproduction • Abstinence • Values • Decision making • Contraceptives

  4. Not only talking about sex What its really all about • LGBT • Dating and relationships • STDs and HIV/AIDS • Pregnancy and childbirth • Sexual Violence • Sexual orientation • Sexual pleasure • Communication

  5. Comprehensive Sexuality Education Grades K-12

Self-Esteem Kindergarten/Grade 1 Grade 9-12 • Identify way that (s)he is special • Identify ways that (s)he is special to family and friends • How to make wise choices • How to say “No” to harmful choices • Identify 4 types of loving behavior • How relationships and peer pressure may affect self-esteem • Skills to say “No” to risk behaviors and avoid risk situations.

Growth and Development Kindergarten/Grade 1 Grade 9-12 • Explain that the body has many different parts • Explain that a boy/girl grows to become a man/women • Identify differences between the body of a boy and a girl • Describe anatomy of male and female • Learn self examinations for cancer • Hormone and their functions

Relationships and Sexual behavior Kindergarten/Grade 1 Grade 9-12 • Identify ways others are special • How to treat others a special • What makes a good friend • Identify ways to show others (s)he cares about them • Choose behaviors that are consistent with my values • Demonstrate healthful ways to express feelings • Abstinence • Hormones and how they affect the body (sexual response, etc...)

STDs and HIV/AIDS Kindergarten/Grade 1 Grade 9-12 • Explain what are germs • Idenify ways germs are spread • Expalin AIDS is caused by a germ • Idenify ways that (s)he cannot become infected by HIV • Identify risk behaviors for STD transmission • Signs, symptoms, and treatment for STDs • HIV prevention, transmission, and treatment

Birth Control Start Grade 7 Grade 9-12 • Explain why abstinence is the most responsible choice for adolescence • Identify different contraceptive methods • Explain ineffective methods of birth control • Identify considerations for birth control • Discuss benefits, effectiveness, side effects, contradictions, cost and use of birth control
