  3. Transition • Started when the new curriculum was approved by PMETB • Will be completed when the last trainee on the old style curriculum has completed or has transferred to the new curriculum Gold Guide Para 10

  4. MRCGP, Summative Assessment or nMRCGPHow would you advise? • The specialty registrar starting August 2007 in ST1 or 2 • The specialty registrar starting August 2007 in ST3

  5. How would you advise your current registrar due to finish in July 2007 who has: • Failed SA MCQ in February 2007 • & fails in May 2007 • Fails in consultation skills - video or simulated surgery - May 2007 • Fails in written submission - National Project Marking Scheme or Audit • Fails the Trainers Report

  6. How would you advise your current registrar due to finish in July 2007 who has: • Passed SA; Passed combined route video & MRCGP MCQ & wants to finish MRCGP

  7. How would you advise your current registrar who started in February 2007 who has: • Not applied yet for any summative assessment modules • Wants to do MRCGP but thinks they have missed the deadline of 9.2.07 for applications • Wants to sit nMRCGP

  8. Certification • Register early with the RCGP • All previous experience should continue to be documented in the usual way (VTRI/2s or RITAs) & forwarded to the RCGP

Completing Summative Assessment, MRCGP and nMRCGP – 2007 and 2008(continued) * In exceptional circumstances, eg, if a GPR is returning to training after a period of maternity leave or sickness absence, only has a few months to complete, and also falls between the two Single Route diets, they may be allowed to submit a video via the COGPED-only route after 31 July 2007. However they will need to seek the Deanery and NOSA prior approval to do so. ** In exceptional circumstances, eg, if a GPR is returning to training after a period of maternity leave or sickness absence and only has a few months to complete – they may be allowed to submit an audit after 31 July 2008. This will probably only apply to GPRs who have already completed the MCQ and Consulting Skills components of SA. However they will need to seek the Deanery and NOSA prior approval to do so. *** The trainers report is the only component of SA which will continue to be routinely available after 31 July 2008 – but will only be for GPRs who have already completed the other three SA components.
