Some quick background “lingo” • Senior survey covers the AY2010-11: • Aug 2010, Dec 2010 and May 2011 ( the largest cohort) • At WU, students have a “prime” school where they complete their “prime” major • Students may select a second major (or minor) in their prime school or in another school • Examples: • ArtSci student, majoring in Economics (prime) with a second major in Finance (in the Olin School of Business) • ArtSci pre-med (e.g., Bio or Chem – prime) student with second major in Economics • BSBA student with a second major in Economics (ArtSci) • Here: “Econ major” = prime + second
Summary of AY2010-11 Graduates in Economics In the last academic year, we graduated 120 Economics majors (and 29 minors).
AY2010-11 Graduates and Senior Survey Responses • AY2010-11: 120 Economics majors • 85 survey responses, of which 71 were Economics majors • ≈ 60% response rate • Most were students in the College of Arts & Sciences. • Some students, however, pursued a second major in economics, while ‘prime’ in another school. 66 2 3
