Corrosion Test: Corrosion Testing determines the resistance of materials to corrosion under certain environmental conditions, including temperature, humidity and salt water. Corrosion testing Method: Two common electrochemical methods for corrosion testing are potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Potentiodynamic polarization determines the corrosion potential and corrosion rate of a material by measuring its current response to a range of applied potentials.
Hydrogen-induced cracking test: • Hydrogen Induced Cracking (HIC) is a type of wet H2S cracking caused by a high hydrogen concentration in metals. Atomic hydrogen diffuses into a metal structure as part of the procedure. HIC cracking occurs parallel to the surface in the hoop stress direction. • Purpose of hydrogen-induced cracking test: • In essence, HIC testing is actually an evaluation of the steel for susceptibility to hydrogen embrittlement. The test procedure involves the evaluation of resistance of pressure vessel steel plate and pipe work steels to hydrogen reduced cracking caused by hydrogen absorption from aqueous sulphide corrosion.
CTOD test • CTOD test is one of test methods to determine fracture toughness (fracture resistance) of a material with a crack, and a test to determine crack tip opening displacement to generate unstable fracture (limit CTOD value). • Test Procedure: • Preparation of test piece → Introduction of a fatigue precrack → CTOD testing → Appearance of fracture surface → Measurement of fracture surface → Evaluation → Preparation of report • We can provide one-stop service for the above procedure from test piece preparation to reporting.
