Outside Scholarship Opportunities • Outside Scholarship opportunities are available to all students who wish to apply • In order to help facilitate the search, our financial aid department provides a list of Outside Scholarship Opportunities and search engines on our scholarship website • These scholarships are NOT affiliated with UMass Lowell. They are offered by private companies and organizations. UMass Lowell does not guarantee the validity of the following information or agencies. As with any scholarships students should beware of scams

Searching for Outside Scholarships • If a student is interested in searching for additional outside scholarships, they can visit our website at http://www.uml.edu/FinancialAid/scholarships/private-scholarships.aspx • UML Students are not limited to our scholarship list or search engines as they can also refer to other outside resources and conduct searches online

  5. Searching for Outside Scholarships • The scholarships are listed by majors and also provides each application deadline

  6. Outside Scholarship Process • Each scholarship will link the student to the outside agencies webpage which will provide all of the scholarship details, criteria and application instructions • Students will apply directly with each individual scholarship organization, which are independent of UMass Lowell • If a student is awarded an outside scholarship, they will be notified with an award letter by the independent scholarship organization • Student should be informed to submit copy of their letter to Financial Aid Office

  7. Awarding an Outside Scholarship • Student must submit copy of their scholarship letter to The Financial Aid Office • Student Financial Services is notified by the independent scholarship organization with an award letter or award certification letter • Student Financial Services notifies The Financial Aid Office of the outside scholarship • UMass Lowell will verify the student(s) enrollment before a scholarship payment/check is received and applied to the student’s account

  8. Awarding an Outside Scholarship • Financial Aid adds the outside scholarship to the students financial aid award • The student’s Financial Aid award may be subject to change due to an over-need or overaward situation based on additional scholarship being received • A revised financial aid award will be sent out to the student’s university email account
