  6. What is it? • There are various types of sound triggers. • One of the most common type is the circuit board sound trigger. • The circuit board sound trigger is typically battery powered and made up of a circuit board base, a sound detector, a cable for an external flash, and a cable for your camera.

  7. How does it work? • When you make a sound near the sound trigger, the sound detector picks up the signal through the circuit board which then activates the external flash, and releases the shutter in your camera, which produces your image that is “frozen” in time.

  8. Our Setup • We tried out different ways to catch the balloon popping at the right moment, by using a fast shutter speed, but we did not get any results that were not just by luck, until we tried using the bulb meter. • So we continued with the bulb meter, because we finally had some results coming out, but the pictures were coming out too bright, so our next issue was to figure out was how to make the pictures come out darker, without having a shutter speed to control, as we were on the bulb function. • So we tried changing the background colours to white and black, and turning the lights on and off, to see if that would make a difference on the photo. • It didn't work, because the main problem was the shutter speed, and that relied on us clicking the button and popping the balloon really quickly and at the right moment, and that photo did not come out, since us clicking the buttons meant a slower shutter speed.
