Cyberbullying is… • Sending threatening or nasty emails • Repeatedly posting unkind comments on social networking • Encouraging others to post unkind comments on social networking • Making prank phone calls or silent phone calls • Sending repeated threatening or unkind texts • Sending repeated anonymous texts • Making threats or inappropriate comments on a gaming network
As a parent what should I be looking for? • Your child becoming withdrawn or very quiet – although they may tell you that nothing is wrong. • They are reluctant to go to school, or join in group activities. • There is a noticeable change in their mood and behaviour. • The child and appears generally more isolated than previously from the rest of the class. • There is a decline in their performance and participation in school work. • They hide their computer or mobile screen from you.

What are we doing in school? • Talking to the children about cyberbullying and what to do if it happens to them • Creating an anti-cyberbullying charter in KS2 to share with the whole school • Encouraging the children to talk to us if they are worried about cyberbullying – or that a friend is being cyberbullied • Teaching the children about ways that they can report abuse on the internet including the CEOP button • Using the STOP programme
