What is it? • A faculty-led program consisting of: • Approximately eight to ten weekly class meetings prior to travel which serve as a preparation for the travel experience • A two to three week faculty-led international trip to various destinations which will include company visits, local lectures, social and cultural activities, etc…

When is it? • The weekly class meetings typically take place between the end of January and early April. • The travel portion will begin during the week following graduation.
Where do we go? • Destinations from Summer 2008 included: • Argentina and Chile • Austria • Italy • Singapore and China • Potential destinations for Summer 2009 will be presented at the Global Business Programs Fair on October 7th. Final programs will be determined by early November.
How much does it cost? • Summer 2008 programs ranged from $2,600 - $3,500. • Students reported that they needed between $300 - $900 in spending money for personal items, souvenirs, specialty food, etc…This amount depends on your personal spending and shopping habits.
What is included in the cost? • Airfare • Ground transportation • Accommodations • Daily breakfast • Company visits • Local lectures • Social and cultural activities • Administrative and organizational fees • Emergency evacuation and repatriation insurance • International Student Identity Card • Language training
What is not included in the cost? • Passport fee • Most meals • Special excursions • Personal expenses
What will we do? • Each faculty decides what the focus of the class will be. Weekly class meetings will center on discussions designed to help students become familiar with the host country’s culture, language, business practices, business etiquette, communication, laws, regulations, politics, food, entertainment, local customs, etc… • During the travel portion, students will visit local businesses, company headquarters, manufacturing facilities, as well as cultural and geographical attractions.

Are there other international study options? • Clarkson has formal exchange programs with more than 20 universities around the world. • MBA students have participated in short-term study abroad programs at the following partner universities: • Reims Management School, Reims, France • Steyr University, Steyr, Austria
Are there other international study options? • Programs of study at a partner university • Students typically take three to five short, business courses at the host institution during the month of June. • The total number of credits that can be earned is three • Students may choose to live on campus at the host institution or be placed off campus near the school • The application procedure is the same as for the faculty-led programs
FAQ’s • How do I choose my program? • Attend the Global Business Programs (GBP) Fair on Oct. 7th in order to speak with administrators and faculty who can assist you in finding a program which will be most beneficial to your educational and career goals. • Will the program interfere with my other classes? • Faculty will work with program participants to ensure that weekly class meetings are scheduled on days and times that do not conflict with other classes.
FAQ’s • How do I apply? • Fill out and submit the GBP application by Friday, October 24th. • Will I get credit for this? • Yes, this will count as a three credit business elective course. • When will I receive my grade? • Final grades will be posted within three days of the completion of all course requirements.
FAQ’s • Will I have insurance while abroad? • Yes, students participating in a Global Business Program will have emergency evacuation and repatriation insurance which is included in the program fee. • What travel documents do I need? • Passport which must be valid for at least six months after the travel portion ends. • Visa for certain destinations. GBP will assist in obtaining visas for students traveling to countries which require a tourist visa.
