“.Nxt Generation Forum ” An inter-generational dialogue among UNICEF Child Participants BioVision.Nxt Fellows and the International Experts at BioVision 2007 Co-organized by UNICEF and BioVision.Nxt
Step I - Online Pre Conference… The “Class of 2005” Fellows has been invited to host an online pre conference to discuss the topics which will prepare the debates and set the stage for the BioVision 2007 parallel conferences. Health: Immunization for All Diseases of Poverty Stem Cells: Promises and Ethical Questions Agriculture/Nutrition: Integrated Approaches to Eliminating Hunger Food for the Future: North and South Issues Development of Agriculture in Saline and Unexploited Areas Environment: Sustainable Natural Resources : Water, Soil BioEnergy After Oil Nanotechnology and Life Sciences
…Step I - Online Pre Conference The Fellows will draw up a Summary of their Findings and Recommendations for Action which will prepare them for active participation in the parallel conferences during the Forum. The online pre conference will also prepare the Fellows for their work on the ground with UNICEF. The online pre conference will be listed on UNICEF’s “Voices of Youth” website. Once the online pre conference has been completed, the “Class of 2005” BioVision.Nxt Fellows and UNICEF’s children will begin their dialogue via the BioVision.Nxt website, and video conferencing.
Step II Funding permitting, two “Class of 2005” Fellows will travel to the country where the participating UNICEF child lives in order learn more about the needs of the children and their families and the real challenges these needs pose to long term action plans. This “pairing” between the Fellows and the children would constitute the beginnings of a long term “Big Sister/Little Sister– Big Brother/Little Brother” initiative. During the “.Nxt Generation Forum”, the UNICEF child participants will present in their own words, their stories, their findings, their observations, their hopes, and their “Call for Action”.
Step III The“Call for Action”will be immediately followed by a Round Table discussion with representatives of Science, Society, and Industry responding directly to UNICEF’s child participants and the Fellows. The “Class of 2005” Fellows will monitor the projects that will be put in place subsequent to the “Call for Action” and will present progress reports on a regular basis. Upon completion of their program, The “Class of 2007” Fellows will “graduate” and become members of the“.Nxt Generation Forum”…… ……
