Preparation • The Hungarian Ministry of Defense is a natural strategic partner of HungaroControl Pte. Ltd. Co. • End of 2011: development of the visual database the 3 current Hungarian military airports (by Adacel) • Delivery of airport data and photographs • Official handover • Beginning of 2012: preparation for the simulation proper • Introduction of airspace data and procedures into the system • Inputting the exercises prepared by the military partner • Exercise testing • Close liaison between HungaroControl, Ministry of Defense and ATCOs at the respective military airports • Settingup a dedicated professional team (air traffic controller expert, pseudo-pilots, etc.)
Project Realization (1) • Simulation dates: May 7, 2012. – June 29, 2012. • Participating aerodromes: • Pápa (LHPA) • Kecskemét (LHKE) • Szolnok (LHSN) • Every single air traffic controller received training on the simulator • Simulation objectives: • Competency maintenance • Refresher training • Individual capacity increase • Practicing complex and • emergency situations
Project Realization (2) • Simulator capabilities: • 3 ATCO positions, 1 supervisorposition • 1 exercise supervisor position, 6 pseudo-pilots • 180° 3D view • Most military aircraft types (fighter, transport and rotary-wing aircraft)withseveral military insignia • CommmonICAO and NATO STANAG arrival and departureprocedures • Able to accommodate typical military needs (hook wire, silent coordination between PAR and ADC, etc.) • Realistic 3D aerodrome models
Project Realization (3) • Personnel: • On behalf of HungaroControl: • Dedicated ATCO expert (civilian) • Dedicated pseudo-pilot team (civilian) • Project team created fromthe simulator staff • On behalf of the Military: • Preparation of exercises (paper-based) • Close liaison (contact person: training manager at each aerodrome) • Delegation of expert on the pseudo-pilot side (to conduct coordination)
Possible Future Development • Simulation capacity will be expanded in the future • The Tower simulator will be expanded to 360° view • More ATCO positions (6 in total) • More realistic look and feel • Enhanced controller functions • (A-SMGCS, stripless environment on request) • The device may be divided in two • Areas of possible future collaboration include: • Refresher trainings • Emergency simulations • Experimental simulations, Safety Cases • Maintaining continuous professional liaison • Pseudo-pilot function fulfilled by military user on request • Training for future NATO missions (on synthetic aerodrome)
