Why Bother with Social Media? • Advocacy in another form— Awareness --> Credibility + Customer Service + Social Change + Volunteers + Funds • Be part of the conversation – engage with consumers, donors, volunteers, community • Build network for change • No financial cost like advertising-cost is time
Don’t have 100% control of message – may not be all good interactions Time consuming Can be RT’d Not overtly measurable Need to respond on a timely basis Staff education needed – “play time” argument Planning required It NEVER ends Potential Social Media Pitfalls
