Workshop Goal • To understand the data-driven improvement planning process and its implications for refinement of performance tasks, rubrics, and curriculum. Virginia Beach City Public Schools

Participation in the Process • The participant: • leaves his/her ego at the door • uses student work as the basis for discussion • respectfully and actively listens to information and ideas presented by other participants • remains “on topic” in discussion per specific area of focus • offers suggestions regarding the development and refinement of performance tasks, rubrics, and curriculum design • shares the collective responsibility for attending to the agreed upon specific improvement actions to be taken Virginia Beach City Public Schools
Facilitation of the Process • The facilitator: • communicates instructions, purpose, and goals clearly • ensures the process is systematically followed • ensures the discussion remains “on topic,” redirecting to focus area as needed • ensures that student work is the basis for discussion, development, and refinement of performance tasks, rubrics, and curriculum design • uses the data-driven improvement planning sheet to record agreed upon evidence for the collective group • summarizes the information in each category prior to continuing the process • ensures that there is a respectful, professional exchange of ideas Virginia Beach City Public Schools
