Opening a UK Bank • For those staying longer than one semester you may wish to open a UK bank account. • Chose a bank which offers the service you require • Most major UK banks have branches in Ormskirk • Require a letter from EHU confirming your status: request this at the International office-please give us 48 hours notice! • Once you have your bank account, please make sure you set up your payment plan for your accommodation Cultural Awareness

Living on Campus • Housekeeping staff in halls 8.30 am-1 pm • Clean all communal areas : You wash your own dishes though! • Students clean their own bedrooms (& shower room if you have one) and bed linen • Refuse from bedroom should go in the big wheelie bins outside-NOT the kitchen bin. • Cleaning equipment (Vacuum, brush & mop) is available in all halls. Cultural Awareness

Living on Campus • Edge Hill is a green campus, please recycle where possible, bins located around campus. • Inventory in your room, please complete & return to FM Helpdesk Reception, During Centre within 10 days from arrival. • Charge will be made to cover the cost of any damage to, or loss of, Residential Property Cultural Awareness

  6. Police Registration • Check your visa stamp • Within 7 days of arrival • Only certain nationalities on certain visas. • Police Registration form: available from International office • Passport • Enrolment Letter/Offer Letter from EHU • £34 fee • 2 x passport photos Cultural Awareness

Financial hardship • International student hardship fund- limited money available to those who face an unanticipated problem: • Grants • Short term loans • If another student asked to borrow money: • Do you know them well? • Do you trust they will pay you back? • Are you financially able to help them? • If in doubt, please refer them to the International Office or the Student Finance Team in the SIC. Contact Details • Update your contact details on your student profile: Log in to GO > student central > student profile > change details (make sure there is an entry in the ‘postcode’ field otherwise it will not save the changes) • Please check your Edge Hill email address regularly: this is the usual way most staff at Edge Hill will contact you. • If you are a Tier 4 student ensure you update the UKBA with any changes through the online form. Enrolment • Check in: Passport & certificates listed on CAS (if you have one) International office, Stanley 7: 1 pm: A-L 2 pm: M-Z • Enrol, Hub 1(passport is needed again!) 3 pm- A-L 3.45 pm- M-Z On enrolment you will need to sign the Agreement of Understanding-please read this carefully!
