Americans Debate Republicanism • Colonies each had own agendas, people associated w/colonies, not country • Republicanism • Gov’t based on consent of people • State constitutions • Similarities: rights of citizens, emphasis on liberty • Differences: right to vote • NJ: loophole allowed women right to vote
