What is THE National Technical Honor Society? National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) is a national honor society recognizing academic excellence among juniors and seniors enrolled in Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. The NTHS mission and purpose: • To reward scholastic achievement in career and technical education • To assist members in their pursuit of career and educational goals • To encourage higher achievement, elevate self-esteem, and cultivate leadership, citizenship, and individual responsibility • To promote the ideals of honesty, service, leadership, and skill development among America’s future workforce • To build and maintain a strong and positive image of career and technical students, programs, and schools in the local community and throughout the nation
What are the benefits of nths? • Membership to an honor society is a significant achievement recognized by universities, colleges as well as by businesses and employers. • NTHS awards over $125,000 in scholarships, a big advantage for NTHS members • Members receive official membership gear, such as: • Member certificate, pin, card and window decal • Graduation regalia and official NTHS seal to be applied to student diploma • Members are eligible to receive personalized letters of recommendation provided by NTHS National Headquarters for employment, college admission, and scholarships
Who CAN BE A MEMBER? • Junior or Senior • Completed or currently enrolled in two or more CTE courses resulting in 2.5 or more credit hours • 3.0 cumulative grade point average and no grade of “F” in any course • Grades of “A” or “B” in all career and technical education (CTE) courses • No more than 3 unexcused absences per semester per class • Have never received ISS, ALA, or any other off-campus disciplinary assignments • Ability to acquire recommendation signatures from one CTE teacher and one Regular Education teacher
How do I apply? • Obtain a membership form from your teacher today. • Ask a CTE teacher to recommend you and obtain their signature. • Ask one of your other teachers to recommend you and obtain their signature. • Return the completed form to the box in the counseling office no later than 2:30 p.m. on Friday, January 17th
IMPORTANT DATES • Forms are due no later than Friday, January 17th at 2:30 p.m. • $30.00 membership fee is due no later than February 28th. • Initiation Ceremony will be: Tuesday, April 15th PISD Education Service Center 1928 N Main, Pearland 6:00 p.m.
