  4. Mission The Danish Patent and Trademark Office is the centre for strategic information and protection of technology and business identifiers

Danish Council of Globalisation Members: • Labor /Business Unions • Danish Corporations • Educational/Research institutions • Director General of Central bank • Prime Minister • Other Ministers Task: Give advice to the Government as to a strategy on DK in the Global Economy Council was seated in April 2005 The Globalisation Strategy was launched in April 2006 Outcome: • 350 specific initiatives

Research, Development and Innovation • Danish Goals: • Danish enterprises among the most innovative in the World • DK among countries with the highest rate of research and development • DK among countries which are best at transforming research and knowledge created by educational/ research institutions into new technologies, processes, goods and services (i.e. transfer of technology)

Research, Development and Innovation Share of innovative enterprises – DK in the middle of EU-15 • Danish Goals: • Enterprises among the most innovative in the World • DK among countries with the highest rate of research and development • DK among countries which are best at transforming research and knowledge created by educational/ research institutions into new technologies, processes, goods and services DK No. 8 of OECD - 1,7 % of GDP in R&D (2005) Patent applications (national) per capita - DK No. 4 of EU-15 (2005) 7 % of SME’s in R&D co-operation with universities – 29 % of the large enterprises

Co-operation: Enterprises and Universities- transfer of knowledge from universities to enterprises • Prioritization of projects by gathering of funds into one common fund • Nomination of Matchmakers • Discount to SME’s bying technical services for the first time • Doubling of the contribution of SME’s

IP Market Place: www.ip-marketplace.org- transfer of knowledge from enterprise to enterprise • Internet based market place • Launched in September 2007 • Danish Tech Trans Office (The national network for technology transfer) supports the initiative • Future expansion: Include other IPR than patents

  14. Introductory course on IPR to entrepreneurs • By Regional Entrepreneur Houses • Introductory course includes: • Immediate estimation of how new an idea is and the chances of IPR • Guidance on how to apply for IPR • Includes introduction to IP Market Place
