Write your own comic. Comic-writing activity:. Read this text :
E N D
Comic-writing activity: Read this text: “It was out there. He could hear it. There was the drag of its right foot. Carl turned his head. Now it was the thing’s breathing. It came in short gasps. There was something wet and ugly about it. Where was it? Carl’s heart slammed. It was close. He could feel its cold breath. It was dead, but it moved. Then a shadow fell over him. In a ray of moonlight he saw a staring bloodshot eye, torn lips, broken teeth, a rotting tongue. It was the undead.”
Comic-writing activity: Now, how will you tell this story as a comic?
Comic-writing activity: Break it into a set of frames on an A4 page. Each frame should have a strong image. You can use two ways of telling Carl’s story as the zombie stalks him: 1. A strip at the top of each frame (or certain frames) where the narrator tells the story as it plays out in pictures below. 2. Thought bubbles from Carl’s head that show what Carl is thinking. Look at some examples of comics and graphic novels or at your copy of The Name is Kadeor Gladiator. See how the text and words work together to tell the story. Think up a cool title. Make it scary. Now have fun! Activity concept by Alan Gibbons
