  2. EMPOWERING THE EUROPEAN YOUTH Turnout 2004 The general turnout of the European parliamentary elections • Poland - 21%, • Czech Republic - 29%, • Slovakia - 17% • Hungary - 39% More than 2/3 of the voters between 18 and 24 (67%) did not go to the polls (Eurobarometer)

  3. EMPOWERING THE EUROPEAN YOUTH General idea, scope and aim of the project • To promote the European parliamentary election among young people in V4 countries and to improve the election turnout; • To encourage young Europeans to vote and raise their European awareness

EMPOWERING THE EUROPEAN YOUTH About our project: Timeframes: October 2008 - June 2009 (actions: May 2009) Beneficiaries: 7 mln of young people between 18 and 28 years old (final beneficiaries: European citizens) Project team: 4 NGOs – one from each Visegrad Country – independent think/action tanks dealing with European issues

  7. EMPOWERING THE EUROPEAN YOUTH Promotion • Place the logo on various websites • Produce propagation materials with the logo of the project • The project promotes itself 

  8. EMPOWERING THE EUROPEAN YOUTH Results & Indicators • The number of website visitors • The number of people who has watched the ads and has listened to the radio spots • Successful if the turnout increases by 5 % among youth • Evaluation of the impact by public opinion polls
