…Because it’s not just about drama! In drama you will develop the following skills: • Teamwork • Confidence • Creative thinking • Social skills • Organisational skills and attention to detail • Self reflection and development
Performers in any profession! Skills that you learn in drama are transferable to all walks of life and are a great way to prepare for interviews for all sorts of jobs. Past students include those who went on to study: • Event management • Medicine • Nursing • Social work Drama is an ideal way to develop the intrapersonal skills needed in all areas of life and work.
Component 1 – Devised 40% What is assessed: •Creation and development of a devised piece from stimulus. •Performance of this devised piece or design realisation for this performance. •Analysis and evaluation of the devising process and performance How it’s assessed: • Devised performance • Portfolio (analysis of process) (Portfolio is a creative document which can consist of: 1500- 2000 words, 8-10mins of verbal or a combination of both)
Component 2 – Performance from text 20% What is assessed: • Students will either perform in and/or design for two key extracts from a performance text of teacher’s choice. How it’s assessed: Performance of 2 extracts – assessed by visiting examiner
Component 3 – Theatre Makers in Practise 40% What is assessed: • Practical exploration and study of one complete performance text (Teacher choice of performance texts) • Live theatre evaluation – free choice of production. How it’s assessed: 1 hour 30min exam Section A: Bringing Texts to Life (one question broken into five parts based on previously unseen texts) Section B: Live theatre evaluation ( pupils allowed notes up to 500words)
