Guide to Evaluation Definition: Evaluation is systematic determination of merit, worth, and significance of something or someone using criteria against a set of standards. In this section you need to describe how the assessment process can be improved by questioning how the reliability of the methods used to collect the data have affected the accuracy of the results and validity of the conclusions. Some questions to consider……….
Was enough data collected? Guide to Evaluation Were there any problems collecting the data? Do you think your results are accurate? Would the results have been improved if you had collected more data, different data, data at a different time or data with a different method, i.e., your sampling was different? How might you have improved your methods if you repeated the data collection? If your results are accurate/inaccurate, are these the result of the method used?
Guide to Evaluation Identify which data support the aim of the assessment and give reasons Identify which data might not support the aim of the assessment and give reasons Explain why your conclusions might be invalid or wrong What can be done to: 1. Increase the accuracy of the results 2. Increase the reliability of the methods 3. Increase the validity of the conclusions?
Guide to Evaluation Level 2 Level 3 Level 1 Evaluation accounts for over 16% of the marks so make sure you look critically at the methods, data and conclusions made. Were the methods dubious? Look at them carefully. Are the conclusions valid or could they be wrong or not totally true?
