  1. Lecture (14)

  2. Ankle joint • Basic projections • AP • Lateral • oblique AP ankle Exposure Factors

  3. Patient Position • ٍSupine or seated • Leg fully extended • Put small support under knee • Part position • Adjust cassette to ankle • Adjust plantar surface perpendicular • Adjust toes pointing vertically • Slightly Rotate foot medially until • malleoli parallel to film holder • Central Ray • Perpendicular • Center Point • Mid way between malleoli

  4. Structure shown Ankle joint, distal tibia and fibula, and proximal talus.

  5. Lateral ankle • Exposure Factors Patient Position ٍSupine roll onto affected side Leg fully extended Put small support under knee Part position Adjust cassette to ankle Flex ankle to 90 degrees angle Adjust foot in lateral position Central Ray Perpendicular Center Point Medial malleolus

  6. Structure shown Ankle joint, distal tibia and fibula and proximal tarsal bones, lateral Calcaneus]

  7. Exposure Factors • Oblique ankle Patient Position ٍSupine or seated on table top Part position Adjust cassette to ankle Flex ankle to 90 degrees angle Rotate leg and foot medially Adjust the malleoli to be at45 degrees to cassette Central Ray Perpendicular Center Point Mid way between malleoli

  8. Structure shown Ankle joint, distal Proximal tibiofibular joint tibia and fibula and proximal talus
