Cornelius – the Gentile • Jesus only delivered the offer of redemption to the Jews – Matt 15:24 – little dogs? • Jews were forbidden to eat with Gentiles – Acts 10:28 • Cornelius was a just and devout man, but with no promise of redemption • The Jews liked him, and he was better than others, but he was still unclean

  4. Peter – a disciple of Christ • He was chosen by God to serve as one of Jesus’ core group (Pete, Jim, John) • He was with Him the night He was arrested • He gave up everything to follow Jesus • He tried to defend Jesus when others didn’t • He preached a great sermon in Acts 2 • A spiritual giant in many eyes

  5. They Meet • Verse 24 - The “spiritual giant” meets the lowly Gentile and Cornelius falls down to worship him • Peter immediately corrects him

  6. Insecurity – R.I.P • Clean/Unclean had a definition in Peter’s mind that God had to remove – Acts 10:15 – What God has cleaned YOU MUST NOT call common • Romans 7:13-8:4
