Our school, established in 2006, offers inclusive education and support for autistic children. With a dedicated team of teachers and staff, we focus on developing self-care, academic abilities, social skills, and artistic talents. We also organize regular seminars and activities for parents, teachers, and students to promote awareness and understanding of autism. Our school started education in 2006 There used to be 2 classes, 8 students and 5 Teachers when it first opened. Now there are 23 Classes, 96 students, and 53 teachers.
In our school we have a headmaster, a headmaster assistant, a psychological counselor, six Special education teachers, a music teacher, an art teacher and an officer.
The number of graduate teachers in the department of special education in our country is not enough but the number increases fast. As a result of this; teachers from different departments can work in our school by taking some short time education/seminars.
The education in our schoolis given for five days of the week from 9:20 to 14:20 The students have six lessons during the day and thirty hours a week.
There are twenty-three classes, workshop and department of administration.
During the lessons teachers study with the students self-care, academical ability, social life abilities, art, sport activities.
Seminars for the parents, teachers and other stuff are given regularly. Dramas and socialartistic activities are done for the families.These activities are sports, jewellery, wood painting.
With family educations performances in daily life with disabled children are co-ordinated and thus the persistence of education is maintained.
April Autism Awareness Month activity is organized in 2011-2012 academic year. Teachers, disabled students,their families walked with banners at a particular route. Speeches are made in order to inform and increase awareness of the people in Gebze about autism.
Sports track is regulated by students of Gebze Autistic Children Education Centre and a co-operative performance of 3-18 age range students is held.
Exhibition consisting of activities which increase students eye-hand coordination is opened to public in Republic Square.
