Background Australia awards What • Australia Awards include scholarships (graduate degrees in Australia) and fellowships (placement in Australian organisations for a short period) at the moment. Why it’s important • To build capacity of Filipinos to drive change and contribute to our development goals in the Philippines What we do now • Administering 60-120 scholarships for full time post graduate study a year • This includes: advertising, selection, assistance with placement, support while studying and re-entry support Australia Awards and Alumni Engagement in the Philippines

Background Alumni What • Building links between former students in Australia in the Philippines with each other and the embassy Why we do it • To build influence within the Philippines • To promote Australian education in the Philippines What we do now • running events • linking alumni with the Embassy and other alumni • administering an alumni awards program • maintaining a database of alumni • preparing a monthly newsletter • running a small grants program Australia Awards and Alumni Engagement in the Philippines

What we will be seeking from the market Overarching strategy An integrated Australia Awards and alumni engagement function which supports the overarching goals of the Australian government in the Philippines Alumni Australia Awards Administrative functions Short courses Selection and deployment of participants in a range of courses at various levels Engagement Database, newsletter, awards program, grants program, events etc Fellowships Ensuring that people we send and the organisations that sponsor them align with post objectives Scholarships Selection, deployment, and support for scholars doing longer courses in Australia • Delivery of these functions using innovative approaches to: • Partnerships with the private sector across all functions • Aligning scholarships, short courses and fellowships with growth industries • The selection, promotion and design processes for Australia Awards Australia Awards and Alumni Engagement in the Philippines

Next steps Early 2017 we will provide: Early 2017 we will seek: No later than 1 September • New scholarships and alumni function commences • a detailed concept note setting out broad parameters and a statement of requirement, not a full design document • This will be based on a review of our current practices we are conducting now • Tenderers to propose their ideas on specific designs, approaches and strategies to best deliver outcomes • We want to harness the innovation in the market and want your ideas to shape the final design of these services Australia Awards and Alumni Engagement in the Philippines
