LANGUAGE AS A SOCIAL INTEGRATION TOOL Strategic Area of Support: Social integration OUTCOME Improve national capacity to integrate national minorities into the social, economic and cultural life of the country OUTPUTS 2003 Promotion of a favorable environment to enhance the access to language acquisition and develop the culture of pluralism through non-didactical activities: • 8 non-didactical TV language films, one video spotdeveloped and promoted on 14 local TV stations • 21500 sets of cards named "12 themes of communications. A pocket guide" in Ukrainian, Russian, Gagauz and Bulgarian Languages
LANGUAGE AS A SOCIAL INTEGRATIONTOOL OUTPUTS 2003 Increase the access of the adults to training as means of social integration: • 22 teachers' network in Second Language Training operational in 9 localities (12 persons are from regions and 10 from Chisinau) • Simultaneous training of adult teachers in modern adult language teaching methodologies • 519 persons (32 groups) trained in a 5 months cycle of state language course Beneficiaries: public servants, teachers, librarians, journalists, social workers, economists, doctors, militaries and unemployed Localities: Edinet, Drochia, Balti, Chisinau, Ialoveni, Hincesti, Comrat, Taraclia, Cahul
LANGUAGE AS A SOCIAL INTEGRATIONTOOL OUTPUTS 2003 Provide methodological assistance and develop new teaching aids for adults: • The first Methodical Guide for Teachers“Predarea si invatarea limbii prin comunicare” published (1000 items) • The First Level Book "Limba care ne uneste“(Language which unites us) published (2000 items) • 2 audiocassettes and 2 exercise books developed for the First and Second Levels NEXT STEPS • Enlarge the communication environment through organization of dialogues, round tables, conferences, and debates on the following topics :"Language as a social integration tool”, "Cultural diversity – cultural richness", "Unity through diversity" • Editing the Second and Third Level Books “Limba care ne uneste”, exercise books and audio cassettes (2000 items each) • Elaboration of criteria for threshold level, language examining and tests development based on The National Human Rights Actions Plan and to adjust them to the standards of the Council of Europe • Developing a CD according to the modern didactical standards • Training the adult language teachers: organization of local seminars for Linguistic Centers in Moldova
