Backround Information His real name is Andrew Warhola Central figure in the Pop Art movement, starting in the 1960s Became world famous for his work as a painter, an avant-garde filmmaker, a record producer, an author, and a public figure. Started with a successful career in magazine illustration and advertising. On June 3, 1968, Valerie Solanas shot Andy Warhol. He was forced to go into open-heart surgery to survive.
