  1. Troy Buchanan High SchoolAll Sports Parent Meeting #TrojanPride 2019-2020

  2. TBHS Athletic Staff

  3. TBHS Activities Staff

  4. Stay Involved • Our goal is to have 100% of our students involved in an activity. Studies show that students that are involved: • get better grades • have fewer discipline referrals • have a higher attendance rate • have a greater connection with school • make lasting friendships • exhibit greater personal confidence and self-esteem • are more likely to go to college

  5. New Physical policy & changes Each athlete must have a physical examination before he/she will be allowed to practice for any sport. MSHSAA Pre-Participation Physical Examination Form is now valid for a two-year period from the date of the physical examination. Pre-Participation Documents must still be completed/updated annually. (Parent) The MSHSAA Pre-Participation Physical Examination Form must be used. Physical examination forms will be on file in the Activities Office.

  6. Citizenship We expect our athletes to be good citizens. Athletes must be credible citizens both in school and out of school. If you are found to be in violation of this policy you may forfeit the privilege to compete. MSHSAA By-Law 2.2.2 • Each student is responsible to notify the school of any and all situations that would affect his/her eligibility under the above standards. If the student does not notify the school of the situation prior to the school discovery, then the student shall be ineligible for up to 365 days from discovery, pending review by the Board of Directors.

  7. Eligibility Requirements High School Students must be enrolled in 8 of the possible 9 classes and must have passed 8 classes the previous semester to be eligible. If a student drops below 8 classes in a semester, they automatically become ineligible. Students may take up to one credit during summer school to regain their eligibility for the fall semester. There are no opportunities to regain eligibility for the winter and spring seasons if a student fails to meet the minimum standards from the 1st semester.

  8. Parent/coach Communication Each coach will give you a pamphlet at your team meetings outlining the recommended protocol to resolve any issue that may arise. Please read through this pamphlet and use it as a guide when necessary. I will be happy to meet with you once you and your son or daughter have met with the coach.

  9. Transportation • All students must ride the bus to their contests. • Coaches may grant permission for a student to ride home with his/her parent or guardian. • Students may get administrative approval to ride home with another student’s parent if the parent provides a written note and it is deemed necessary by the administrator.

  10. College Recruiting • Athletes- If you are interested in playing sports in college you need to notify your coach and your counselor so they can help you. • If you are interested in playing NCAA Division I or II or NAIA you must register for the level you intend on playing. If you don’t know the level, you will want to register for both. You can find the links on the “Resource Page”. • It is not too early to start this process your freshman year and is recommended that this process is started by your sophomore year. • Be Proactive- Send letters out to schools that you have interest in.

  11. Registering to Play at the next level CorecourseGPA.org Is a great resource for all of your recruiting questions. This site also provides you with links to register for the NCAA and NAIA. Link to the letter for instructions to create a profile: https://www.troy.k12.mo.us/domain/1852

  12. Non-School Competition • Same Sport, Same Season A student shall neither practice nor compete in organized non-school competition in that same sport. Except in the fall where athletes can continue with their non-school teams until the Tuesday after Labor Day. • Different Sport, Same Season Athletes can participate in another sport during their season, but may not miss scheduled practices or games to do so without administrative approval. Note: During the school golf, tennis, cross country, wrestling and track and field seasons, a student may, after fulfilling all requirements, practices and competitions of the school team, compete as an individual participant in two (2) organized non-school competitions.

  13. Transfer Students Transfers to Troy Buchanan High School Any students that transferred to the Troy School District within the last 365 days need to see the activities director to fill out the necessary transfer information. Transfers due to promotion are automatically eligible. Transfer from Troy Buchanan High School It is very important to see me if you are thinking about transferring to another school without your family making a full and complete move.

  14. Handbook Athletic/Activities Handbook is now available on the Online Registration Forms. Each team member will need to either sign or check they have read the handbook. Paper copies of the handbook are also available if you did not complete it online.
