  2. North West London – Learning Disability Nursing A 58.9% undersupply is predicted in 2018/19. Indicates year in which, in general, alterations to commissions in 2014/15 will have an effect on the workforce. • Factors leading to final demand and supply figures • The senior stakeholder group agreed that there would be no changes to the assumptions around the aggregated NWL demand and supply forecast data, which is reflected in the chart above. • A significant proportion of LD nurses work in social care, not in the NHS. To plan effectively, we need visibility of this workforce. This has been considered as part of this process, and improving data and information on social care is a focus of 2014 activity. • LD nursing has a large number of training providers delivering small cohorts of students across London. Rationale for decision • A significant undersupply is forecast, and therefore an increase is required. • The proposed increase is 22.2%, or four commissions. Ahigher increase is not recommended due to the following factors: • The LD workforce is not fully understood, as many LD nurses work in social care. This needs to be further investigated to improve workforce forecasts. • Commissioning stability should be attempted – gradual changes are more sustainable and manageable.
