Motivation Dictionary.com: • mo·ti·va·tion • noun 1. the act or an instance of motivating, or providing with a reasonto act in a certain way: I don't understand what her motivation was for quitting her job. Synonyms: motive, inspiration, inducement, cause, impetus. • 2. the state or condition of being motivated: We know that these students have strong motivation to learn.

  3. Maslow’s Hierarchy Of Needs: • Self-Actualization • Self-Esteem • Love and Belonging • Safety and Security • Physiological Motivation Theory

  4. Extrinsic vs. intrinsic motivation ME MI • Meet the first two sets of needs described in Maslow’s hierarchy. • Are defined and set from “outside” influences. • Examples: pain avoidance, food. • Meets the upper level needs on Maslow’s hierarchy. • Are defined and set from within each individual’s person. • Examples: values, sense of team work
