  1. Five Popular Types of Succulents Succulents have always been the talk of plant-lovers. They’re easy to plant, take care of and light up your house! But, what exactly are succulents? Succulents are plants with thickened, fleshy, and engorged parts that are designed to hold water in arid climates or soil conditions. Here is the list of some pretty and popular succulents! Jade Plant (Scientific Name: Crassula Ovata) The Crassula Ovata, also known as the Jade Plant, is a wonderful plant with waxy, fleshy green leaves that can be grown both indoors and out. This succulent is a simple to grow that is said to bring good fortune to your home. Since it is a low maintenance plant that requires watering once a week, it’s a perfect fit in your office as well as your homes! Snake Plant (Scientific Name: Sansevieria Trifasciata) Native to Africa, the snake plant has around 70 different species. It can survive in areas with low light and sporadic watering. Besides emitting oxygen during the night time, it acts as an effective defense against airborne illnesses. Snake plants can absorb cancer-causing pollutants such as CO2, benzene, formaldehyde, xylene, and toluene in small amounts. Panda Plant (Scientific Name: Kalanchoe Tomentosa) Originated in Madagascar, this succulent has thick green leaves with silver fibery hairs. Since the tips of the leaves are red rimmed, they look like panda paws, hence earning the name panda plant. It is also called “Chocolate Soldier” in many areas. These type of succulents need to be watered only once in a couple weeks once the soil is completely dry. Zebra Plant (Scientific Name: Haworthia fasciata) They paint a mesmerising picture with their rich green colour and white stripe-like variegations. The fleshy leaves grow in rosettes, and their uncomplicated nature makes them an excellent gift. They need bright indirect sunlight and need to be watered once a week! Ponytail Palm (Scientific Name: Beaucarnea recurvata) Ponytail palm is a unique plant with a leathery trunk, feathery green leaves at the top, and a rounded, water-storage bulb at the bottom. Ponytail palm can withstand a fair amount of neglect, and while it prefers bright light and low humidity, it can thrive in a variety of indoor settings. Because of its thick stem, it is also called the Elephant Foot palm!
