  3. What is it? • Call it pot, grass, weed, or whatever you want. • It is still a mixture of dried & shredded leaves, stems, seeds, and flowers of the sativa plant. This mixture can be green, brown, or gray.

  4. Ways it can be taken • Used in many ways. • Most common method is smoking loose marijuana rolled into a cigarette. These are called “joint” or “nail”. • Can be smoked through a water pipe. This is called “bong”. • Others smoke “blunts” which are cigars that have been hallowed out and filled with marijuana. • You can also brew it as tea or mix it with food.

Effects Get high, loss of coordination, short-term memory loss, increased heart beat, euphoria (intense feeling of excitement), take high-risk behaviors Cause cancer, affects mental health, addiction, respiratory problems (chronic cough, bronchitis), hallucination, delusions, and develop psychosis

MedicalUses • Also treats nausea in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, stimulate appetite in patients w/ wasting syndrome, problems sleeping, tics and muscular spasms, seizures, loss of energy, difficulty breathing, craving for heroin, eye irritation and double vision (in Grave’s Disease).

  8. Effects to unborn children or born children • Babies whose mom’s have taken marijuana and have it in their system will most likely have: lower birth weights, they can develop health problems, and develop mental delays
