  1. A fervent desire to reach high school students, in particular, stressing the importance of FREEDOM and delivering the factual message to them that so many young American lives have been sacrificed to ensure our safety and lifestyle we all enjoy George Ciampa, President LET FREEDOM RING Normandy Cemetery

  2. This is facilitated by taking young high school history teachers on educational tours, together with veterans of World War II to countries where we served -- France and Belgium. These countries lost their freedom and later regained it with the help of the U.S. The teachers learn first hand hearing stories from citizens who were deprived of their freedom and also hearing stories from the veterans themselves about their experiences where they served and fought to liberate the oppressed from the enemy. These veterans and of course the citizens, who are in the same age group, are not going to be with us much longer and their stories will go with them if not documented. A lesson plan devised by the teachers and accompanied by a documentary, “Let Freedom Ring,” in DVD format, will be an invaluable tool in classrooms in our country.

  3. George Ciampa is a World War II veteran of the 607th Graves Registration Company and president of LET FREEDOM RING. He served in five campaigns in Europe and will never forget his experience of looking into the eyes of dead comrades as they were prepared for burial. “History of World War II is not commonly known by many younger Americans. Too often people take freedom for granted and never realize that there is always a chance for it to be taken away. For example, people in Europe lost their freedom as Nazi Germany occupied their countries.” George Ciampa created his foundation in order to educate today's generation on the importance of FREEDOM and to never forget those men and women who gave their lives for freedom. Today's generation cannot be complacent about the security of our freedom that so many servicemen and women have died for over the years. In August 2006, Ciampa took with him four Southern California high school history teachers and two First Division "Battle of the Bulge" veterans to Belgium. The purpose was to enlighten the teachers about the hardships of the Belgian people who lived under the Nazi occupation as well as hear the experiences of the veterans who fought the Nazis. The tour was filmed for a documentary to pass on this information to younger generations. “In this day and age, freedom is not a word that should be political. It is beyond that. It's the one thing worth dying for because without it, there is no life. The Belgian people and others know what it is like to lose freedom, how its almost like being stripped of humanity.” George Ciampa 18 years old, Normandy, France

  4. George Ciampa is an 82 year old U.S. Army World War II veteran of five Campaigns in Europe including the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of Bulge. After his late wife, died in 1981, Ciampa alone, raised his two children, ages 11 and 10, until their entry into universities. In 1991 he met Dottie, a lovely and wonderful widow and has been married since 1996. He is a seventy-two year resident of the South Bay in Southern California, attending Inglewood High School, El Camino College and the University of Southern California. Raised by Italian immigrants, he was born in Boston, MA. His work background is varied. He spent 37 years in the advertising business at various newspapers, over 26 years with the Los Angeles Times where he was a display advertising salesman, the last 18 years as Special Features Manager.
