  4. Aims for this evening To discuss and clarify: • Breakfast Club • After School / Holiday Club • Routines and the School Day • Uniform • What can you do at home? • Parent / teacher relationship • Story Club • Induction process • Visit classrooms

  5. Breakfast Club

  6. School and routines Morning bell = 8.50am – children will enter the classrooms as independently as possible. Playtime= 10.30 – snacks/fruit/milk. Lunch= 12.00 – hot meals or sandwiches. Children are always closely monitored by lunchtime supervisors. Home time= 3.15 – children must be collected at the doors by the appropriate adult.

  7. Structure of your child’s day. • Fun and enjoyment! • Learning through organised play and both child and adult led activities. • Assessed within the Early Years Foundation Stage. • Focused tasks. • Observations. • Photographs.

  8. Uniform – what to wear Please label everything as clearly as possible. Yes, even socks, shoes and gloves! Start asking your child to fasten/unfasten their own buttons, zips and shoes.

  9. Book Bags: Books to share at home, Name card, Reading books, Word lists, Reading Record, Communication Book. P.E. Bags: White t-shirt, Green shorts, Pumps. Outdoor PE: GreyTracksuit, Outdoor footwear (playground) Water bottles: These will be kept in the classroom, for use at appropriate times. Again, please label everything!

  10. Reading Reading books to share with your child will be changed on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Children will be given lots of opportunities to read, whether it be labels in the classroom, group reading sessions or individual reading. Once your child is able to consistently recognise letters and sounds, they will be given further books to read at home. Ensure that the time spent ‘reading’ with your child is quality and worthwhile.

Your jobs! • To arrive at school on time. • Ensure that your child is smart and proud of their appearance. • Help your child to arrive in the right frame of mind. • Help your child to be ‘ready to learn’. • Inform a member of staff if your child is not 100% that day – whatever the reason. • Support your child with any tasks to be completed at home

  13. Parent / Teacher relationship To pass on any information, no matter how small. (Communication Book) Ask if you are not sure! Do not be afraid. Hand all letters or important information to an adult.

  14. Story club

  15. Story Club Sessions will be on a Wednesday or Thursday 9.05am – 9.30am The time allocated to your child has been set in accordance with the large number of children and the space available in school.

  16. Story Club 9.05am – 9.30am Bring your child to the Reception Classrooms. (via the wooden gate) Each child will be given a book for you to read at home, this can then be exchanged for another on your next visit.
