  2. I. Defrost Timer A. Has only two functions 1. Cooling contacts a. may have more the one set b. cuts down amps 2. Defrost contacts a. defrost terminal b. defrost termination solenoid

  3. II. Make – up A. Timer Motor 1. Shaded pole mtr 2. High ohm resistance B. Contacts 1. Cooling terminals 2. Defrost terminals

  4. C. Defrost termination solenoid 1. parallel to defrost terminal 2. works with DTS/Fan delay switch 3. completes path on L2 or N side 4. Terminates defrost and switches contacts into cooling position a. 55 degrees will terminate b. solenoid connected to mechanical linkage

  5. D. Clock must be set to correct time E. Defrost time sequence must be set F. Pins set for defrost schedule

  6. III. DTS / Fan delay switch A. Fan delay in cold position (closed) 1. Completing L2 or N to evap fans 2. Temperature position 5° to 25° B. DTS switch in open position 1. Closes when temperature reaches 55° 2. Completing the path to defrost solenoid coil in the timer 3. Forcing system back into cooling a. Evap fan will delay
