On your own Create a New Project : Model Racing Car. Ensure the path is directed to My Work Folder. Remember to set it current. Creating the New Project Set the Model Racing Car Current
Task Go Ahead and create all the parts of the model racing car as individual parts. See separate sheets for Dimensions. Here are a list of suitable names : Bearing Axel Wheel Body (Model Curtsey of Mr W.Donald PT Claremont High)
Lets add a thread to the both ends of the axel. Rotate the axel until it looks like this Select Thread from the Part Features menu Do the following inside the Thread Dialogue box Make sure the Full Length box is not ticked Finally Select the face to be threaded. Do the same to the other side Make sure the Direction button is not pressed. Set Length to 25.5mm
Select a New file from the dialogue box select Standard(mm)iam From the Assembly Panel select Place Component. From the Open dialogue box Select one of your parts notice that multiple copies are presented. Once two have been placed right click your mouse button and select Done from the screen menu. Right click to select Done Task On your own insert copies of all other parts.
Select Insert Constraint Select Place Constraint Select the two surfaces as shown be careful ensure it is as shown Set Offset to -18.5 now select Apply Make sure both surfaces are flush Select this button
Zoom and pan to get this view Place a Constraint : Select Insert Constraint Use the same technique as before picking the two parts as shown Once parts are aligned set offset to -70 and press Apply
As before select Place Constraint. Select Insert Constraint from he dialogue box. Carefully select the two surfaces shown wheel and bearing positioned.
Standard parts such as nuts, bolts & washers are available by using the Library. On the Browser select the Model down arrow. Then select Library. Select Standard Parts Lets change the view to Icon View
Use the scroll bar to move to the BSI folder Select the folder to go deeper inside the BSI folder Use the scroll bar to move to scroll to Nuts Select the folder to go deeper inside the Nuts folder Use the scroll bar to move to scroll to Hex Nuts Select the folder to go deeper inside the Hex Nuts folder
Select the nut as shown Select the Down Arrow and choose 4mm
Position and Hold Down the Left Mouse button inside the frame. Notice the eye dropper, it will fill up . Keep the left mouse button pressed and drag onto screen and release mouse button. One nut should appear. Select another three positions then right click and select Done
Use the Back button to go back. Select Plain Washer chamfered. Ensure the size is set to 4mm and using the Dropper place 4 washers approx were shown. Right click anywhere on the screen and select Done.
Select Place Constraint and again select Insert for the type of Constraint Select the Washer and Axel as shown Instantly the washer will move to the Axel
Continue and do the same with the Nut After each Apply you will be able to select more washers and nuts applying them one at a time. Do this till all are located. Then press Cancel to Finish the Command.
Apply some materials to your model. Because the parts are separate. When you apply a material all of the surface will be changed. Ayrton Senna eat your Heart out. Save your Model : Car Assembly 1
Task : Produce this Assembly Drawing from the Assembly Model Save the file as Car Assembly1
To add a parts list select the Parts List Icon. Set the dialogue box as shown and select OK. Select a suitable position
Item list looks good apart from mixtures of capitals and lower case. Lets keep them all capitals
In the Edit Parts List dialogue box ,simply select the part you want to change and edit it. Select OK to finish. Select the Item List and right click your mouse. Select Edit Parts List. This looks more like it.
Lets add item balloons Select the Balloon icon A balloon will appear at your cursor tip. Simply select the item such as the wheel and drag the leader to a suitable position and select it Right click your mouse and select Continue, you want to add more.
Task : Finish your assembly drawing Remember to Save it.
Once the assembly of the Model RacingCar has taken place and saved. Go to you’re My Work folder and open Model Racing Car folder then Workgroups folder. The structure off the folder should look like this. This Icon denotes Inventor Part file These Icons denote an Inventor Assembly file Both files are Inventor Drawing files This one controls the paths leading to the Assembly
