Update : Annual Programme Monitoring (Review) Deborah Trayhurn Academic Advisor Learning & Teaching Support Deborah Trayhurn External Examiners’ Conference
Changes 1 ….portfolio, event-driven • Adoption of portfolio maintained for each prog • completion of sections at different times, enabling comments to be made at the time of action(for example, the enrolments section, if needed, could be completed soon after enrolment is completed) • Provision of APM statistics on an ‘event-driven’ basis • as it becomes available, rather than at fixed times, improving flexibility for non-standard year progs Deborah Trayhurn External Examiners’ Conference
Changes 2….statistics • Focussed data sets to be provided • reduced set of tables (9 rather than 27!) that can be directly included in the portfolio, with no copying to a template • Exception-based reporting on statistics • table data is flagged against set key performance indicators to indicate points that need comments. • KPIs include retention rates, classifications, NSS scores etc • comparisons made with Unistats data sets by subject for sector where relevant Deborah Trayhurn External Examiners’ Conference
Changes 3….commentary • Discussion required where KPIs are triggered • Comments expected to include good practice with enhancement activities related to the School LT Strategy embedded in template • Requirements adapted for collaborative provision and to ensure partner engagement Deborah Trayhurn External Examiners’ Conference
Changes 4….School role • Removal of fixed point in year for SLTs to report on APM to ULT • SLTs to decide when to report to ULT on items of university importance, as they arise • Reports to LTS on collaborative provision (overseas and UK) and all Foundation Degrees continue Deborah Trayhurn External Examiners’ Conference
Review of 2006/7 • Interim approach to APM used for review of academic year 2006/7: • review to be conducted using new-style data sets and templates, to take place Autumn 2007 • where reviews have already commenced using old-style template, this is acceptable • review of new system to take place, reporting shortly Deborah Trayhurn External Examiners’ Conference
Review of 2007 / 8 and future developments • Statistics (Enrolments) provided Nov 2007, April 2008 • Statistics extracted monthly from Oct 2008 • Future changes anticipated • facilitate cross-programmes comparisons, • allow analysis of performance of different student groups and demographics, • provide cohort analyses and time-series data.
