Tuesday 3/11/2014 Agenda: Objectives: Content Objective: Students will be able to… Complete a mind map using the phrase “civil rights”; Language Objective: Students will… work individually and collaboratively in groups using academic language scripts • Bell Work Week 26 • Informative (expository essay) essay DUE • Per. 1: receive request to deliver oral book report forms • Share OBR schedule • Receive instructions for dialectical journals • H/W: Read your IRB and work on your dialectical journal; bring both to class tomorrow

  3. Next: • You’ll receive a sheet of printer paper. • Place it horizontally on your desk (landscape). • Find colored pencils/markers/highlighters.

  4. Draw this chart on the printer paper: Meaning: In your own words Synonym: Synonym: civil rights Synonym: Sentences: Write 3 complete sentences using the phrase civil rights.

  5. Next: • One person from each group, collect the Bell Work papers and bring them to me.

  6. Next: • Place your Informational Essay (final draft only) on your desk. Make sure that your completed, annotated rough draft is stapled to your final draft (FINAL DRAFT ON TOP). • Make sure your name/per. #/ date are on the essay. • One person from each group, collect the papers and bring them to me.

Next: • Receive Request to Deliver Oral Book Report forms (per. 1) • Edits (per. 1 & 6): • Put a line through the “lunch” option • Write in “IC” (in class) • IC dates: April 8, 15, 22, 29 ONLY • These reports will take place in the last portion of class on the dates above • If you’re ready to request a date, you’ll fill in your form today. Let’s look at the schedule.

  8. Next: OBR Schedule • You may come look at the schedule—but DO NOT write on it… use your OBR request forms instead. • If you plan to turn in a request today, make sure you write in your 1st and 2nd choices.

Exit procedures: • Pick up any pieces of paper left on the floor (even if you didn’t create the mess) • Stack the Academic Language Scripts in the center of your table • Ensure that textbooks are secured underneath desks with wire racks or on top of desks without racks • Ensure that you’ve retrieved all of your belongings
