New LG MTEC 3: Aims & Objectives • What do we want out of the LG MTEC 3? • Fulfill a legislative requirement and more…. • The engagement should be beneficial to both Treasury & municipality • Holistic, independent assessment of municipal operations • Assess progress with previous LG MTEC findings (follow through) • Identify best practices which can be emulated • Identify challenges and areas of support

  6. Way forward • Collect Budget Documents from all municipalities by 31 March 2010 • Conduct Assessments: 1-21 April • Visits to all 30 municipalities • Visits commence on 29 April with City of Cape Town • From 3 to 13 May rest of municipalities • Cabinet Submission: July
