WEAKNESS • Farmers loosing interest • Domination of Groups • Neo middle men • No information of field position • No hold on supply chain • Total Management by out sourcing employees. • Defunct farmer committees viz. price fixing committee • Lack of cutting edge supervision • Borrowed administrative machinery
4. OPPORTUNITIES • Demand for vegetables in the Urban areas • Scope for bridging the gap between the farmers and Rythu Bazars • Extending the facility to farmers &consumers at their doorstep. 5. THREATS • Co-ordination problem between Horticulture and Marketing Department. • Mushrooming of new-middleman. • Private, Economically sound retail marketers dominating the procurement process.
STEPS TAKEN / PROPOSED TO ADDRESS FARMERS PROBLEM: • Formation of farmers group at field level / village level / Mandal level is taken up by Horticulture Department under RKVY & QMP programmes. • It is proposed to link the willing group to the Rythu Bazars. • Horticulture consultant are being appointed by Rythu Bazars to act as liaison between the farmers and Rythu Bazars. • Involving Rythu Bazars staff along with the Horticulture consultentsin planning the crop at field level. (Micro planning) • Giving top priority to farmers in Rythu Bazars by allocating stall at prime locations. • Encouraging them to have their own transportation by pooling method. • Educating them by putting up flexi-boards displaying the schemes extended by Horticulture Department and initiatives of Marketing taken up by Rythu Bazars.
SELF HELP GROUPS • They are necessary but requires attention. • They were encouraged to procure variants which are not grown locally so that Rythu Bazars will be one step vegetable purchase centre for consumers. • They have become a monopoly now and many “Self Help Groups” are not working strictly as per norms. • G.O. Ms. No. 29, Agril & Co-op(AM-IV) Department, dt: 16.02.2012 has provided norms for allotment of stalls to groups. Joint Collectors have to take up the issue in all seriousness.
