Policy 2510 Update • The teaching of foreign languages in grades 5 and 6 is encouraged. A foreign language course, in the same foreign language, must be offered for students in grade 7 and grade 8. Policy 2520.7 Update • The Foreign Language Content Standards, Objectives (CSOs) are designed to provide guidance for: • the development of foreign language curricula • the selection of instructional materials • the evaluation of students’ learning and professional development opportunities. • While teachers are responsible for developing curriculum maps and for selecting specific content and learning activities, this document is intended to guide local curriculum development. • Effective Date. -- July 1, 2008. http://wvde.state.wv.us/policies/
